What I saw today was very dramatic scene on the market street when I was going to meet sadashiv, my old and only friend in the town. An old aged lady, about 60 was beating a man who was in deep sleep beside the gutter. When I heard that he was no one other than her only son, I was shocked. The crowd was going to increase in number now and no one was dared to stop her from her passionate act. Her son was now trying to get up but with each stroke of lathi on his back at he was groaning. Finally one man, nearly of same age, came making out of the way from the crowd and asked lady in a hard tone, "Shanti, what are you doing? Please stop this nonsence." "Am I making nonsence? What do you think?" Shanti was in fury and thought came to my mind, how could be her name 'Shanti'. "No I was just asking, why are you beating him, he is the only son of yours'?" The tone of the man was soft one at this time. "I am not beating him, I am just applying some force to this ass to make him movable." The conversation went on and the old man persuaded her not to beat him, at least, not on the road. With the torrent of abuse she took her son towards home and the crowd was dispersing now but I was in surprise with her last answer. This pushed me to the thought of fellow Newton and the laws of motion. She proved it correct. I went further to think that what make us to move? The force applied backwards by my foot creates an action and the earth reacts with equal and opposite reaction in forward direction so that I can walk. I was heading to the Shankar tea house where we, Sadashiv and I, planned to meet. I was near market now and the crowd was there. People were in hurry, some were busy in making exhibition of goods in their shops while some were bargaining with customers. At the end I saw a bus was coming with a great speed and as it was approaching the market, driver applied brakes with a strong push. As passenger could understand what happened, heads of some tumbled on the bar behind the front seat. Most of them abused the driver and they reminded to me, the first law, law of inertia. The bodies of the passangers on the bus was in uniform motion means they were travelling with a constant speed. The force applied by the driver produced negative acceleration and the motion of the bus got reduced but the motion of the bodies were still in uniform motion, this force in backward direction pushes them forward due to the inertia of their bodies. This inertia was due to the weight of their bodies. This made me clear that why I require more efforts to push a rack than to push a chair. I was in this thought when Sadashiv put his hand on my shoulder and asked, "Why are you so late?" And finally I was out of thought, the fellow, Newton was right, it required the force of Sadashiv to made me out of thoughts
